ProsperFleet FAQs
Why ProsperFleet?
I have sales intelligence software like ZoomInfo, Seamless.ai, LeadIQ. How can ProsperFleet still help me?
B2B sales intelligence and prospecting sources do not include fleet and vehicle data. Employee and revenue numbers can be a poor proxy for the number of vehicles a business has.
Why waste time calling fleets that don’t fit your ideal customer?
Here’s the issue when sales and marketing teams try to contact fleets, but without any fleet data:
- You call a lot of companies with only one or two vehicles. Because 90% of companies with vehicles have only one or two. That’s right. Only 10% of companies have more fleet vehicles than that. And if you’re looking for 100+ vehicle fleets, it’s a small percentage. Adding fleet info to your accounts will help keep your sales and marketing resources focused on ideal prospects for you.
If you’re happy with the company firmographics and contact info that you get from other data sources, we can add fleet information to your account and lead records.
How does ProsperFleet data compare to other fleet and trucking databases and lists?
Our ProsperFleet database was originally built to supply our analytics clients with fleet data. Before using our data, they were using data they purchased from inexpensive sources that are easy to find on Google. They had several problems with other fleet and trucking databases:
- The data was not in condition to their standards. They had to do a lot of work to make the data ready for sales and marketing use. They wound up hiring us to clean the data! We had to standardize, format, deduplicate, and perform address updates on it. We appended additional contacts relevant for fleet decision-making, with email, phone and LinkedIn profiles. After all of that, the inexpensive sources cost more.
- Fleet suppliers are all calling the same companies and contacts. Many trucking lead lists use the FMCSA trucking database. Those contacts are buried under avalanches of phone calls and emails from competitors. Our customers got “net new” accounts and contacts from us that weren’t contacted as often.
- The vast majority of fleets are very small, less than 5 vehicles. They are owner-operator trucking companies with one tractor or truck, or small companies with a handful of vehicles. If you want to target the small fleet market, especially for trucking, there are many lists to reach them. Our focus has been on fleets with 5+ vehicles, and up to the largest fleets.
- If you need to reach light duty fleets with sedans, SUVs, pickups and vans, most lists and databases about fleets do not include these vehicles. They are focused on medium and heavy duty trucks and the FMCSA data. Our database also includes the Class 1-3 light duty vehicles like sedans, SUVs, pickups and vans that are commonly used by the trades, field service, field sales reps and executives as “company cars.”
- Most fleet data sources provide only the headquarters locations. ProsperFleet has all company locations with fleets. This means there is a lot more data available if you sell at the state or local level. In addition, this uncovers locations that are not as heavily prospected by your competition.
- Our roots in advanced analytics and strategic consulting for marketing and sales is a powerful combination with fleet market intelligence. We can help you grow your sales to fleets.
Accuracy & Reliability
How current is your data?
Company records are reviewed through phone calls on a rotating basis. About a million calls are placed every month. Many records have been reviewed within the past 30-90 days, with most of the remainder within the past 6 months.
Business closure and bankruptcy checks are run monthly. This is important to do regularly, due to the cyclical nature of the trucking and transportation industry.
CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) updates are run monthly. This tests street/mailing addresses for consistency with U.S. Postal Service delivery.
Emails are run through a verification service monthly. If you are acquiring custom data from Valgen, we recommend that you work with us to re-verify emails immediately before email campaigns. Due to job changes, emails can age quickly and this can increase your bounce rate and affect deliverability of your emails. For the ProsperFleet app, we track job changes monthly.
What is your guarantee for accuracy of data?
We offer a 90% guarantee, so for example if 10% or more of emails return hard bounces, we would replace those records.
If you are able to flag outdated data and send it to us, it would be very much appreciated so we can update our database.
Sample Data
Can I have a sample that fits my filters and criteria?
If you’re evaluating our online data platform, we can give you trial access.
If you’re looking for custom data, we can give you a standard sample of about 50 records, so you can see:
- Which fields you will receive with company, fleet and contact information
- How the data is formatted
When you purchase data, you can be assured that the file you receive will look the same. At that time, the data will be custom selected to fit the criteria you set for filters like geography, industries, fleet size, company variables, and contact job titles.
Here are the fields for data we would deliver to you:
- Valgen ID (unique ID to allow for deduplication matching in future orders)
- Company Name
- Company Street
- Company City
- Company State
- Company ZIP
- Company Phone
- Website
- Company LinkedIn Page
- Company Facebook Page

Can I have a sample to see how well the data performs during sales calls and email campaigns, before ordering?
We can give you a standard sample of about 50 records, so you can see:
- Which fields you will receive with company, fleet and contact information
- How the data is formatted
It’s also important to know that the performance of list data is different than marketing and sales performance.
Lists are only a small part of successful marketing and sales. A list should have accurate and reliable data. Your list should fit your ideal customer profile as much as possible, which is dependent on having a clear idea of who your customer is. Though it’s rare to find a data source that has all variables 100%, your list provider should work with you to fit the data as much as possible – by geography, industry, company size, fleet size and vehicle type, with relevant job title contacts.
After you receive the list with accurate and reliable data that closely fits your ideal customer profile, performance depends on many factors in your sales and marketing process. Lists cannot compensate for not having a deep understanding of a market, for lacking product-market fit, or for not pairing an effective marketing or sales message with the right point in a funnel or customer journey.
In addition, performance measurement is important with lists. If you bought list after list, and felt disappointed with the results, it’s probably not the whole list that’s a problem. People rarely ask, what part of the list DID work? If a list produced a 1% response rate, you might find that some industries produced 2% while others produced .5%. So your analysis could identify segments of the list that out-performed the average.
Then work with your list provider to, in the next order, focus on the industries that produced a higher response rate.
Data Delivery
For custom data, how is the data delivered?
We work with you to set filters to tailor the data for your needs. Filters commonly requested include:
- Geography
- Industries
- Fleet size
- Job titles
Then we query our database and send the data to you in Excel or csv format. If you want “net new” records – meaning you want us to send only data that you don’t already own – then we would ask you to send your prospect and customer data to us, and we will use that file to ensure that we identify only company and/or contact records that are new to you. This data would also be delivered in Excel or csv format.
If you have Salesforce, we can deliver your data direct into Salesforce.
We can turn around requests in a few days or faster, depending on complexity of your filters and the condition of any data that you send to us for matching.
Can I choose data myself through an app?
Yes, you can use our online fleet database called ProsperFleet. Learn more about it and if you need more info, request a demo.
Fleet Data
Why focus on fleets with 5+ vehicles?
Most of our customers are looking for larger fleets with 10+ or 20+ vehicles minimum.
Most fleet databases and lists start with 1 vehicle. The vast majority of fleets have less than 5 vehicles. So these lists could work for you if you’re looking for trucking owner-operators, or other very small fleets.
But if you’re looking for larger fleets, keep in mind that a list may have one million fleets, but 80% of them could have less than 5 vehicles. We created a different approach to meet our customers’ needs for bigger fleets.
Does your data include only vehicles owned by businesses? No personal vehicles?
All vehicles in our database are owned by a business, government, education institution or non-profit.
It is possible, though, that business vehicles are parked at home addresses. This can happen for vehicles driven by business owners, executives, truck owner-operators, field sales reps, and other employees who often keep the vehicles at home.
Also some small businesses are located at residential addresses.
Some fleet databases have hundreds of fields about the vehicles. Do you have all that information?
Whether you need hundreds of data points about a prospect depends on your business and what you are selling. Many businesses selling to fleets do not use or want that much detail.
Below is the list of data fields that we provide most often to our clients. Indeed, many marketing and sales managers we work with will give fewer fields than this to their SDRs and BDRs, because they feel there is too much information and they want to help sales reps stay focused. For these reasons, we believe in delivering the most important data that’s requested most often by our customers.

Contact Data
What contact information can I get?
Once you’re ready to purchase data, we will work with you to identify the job titles that respond best to your marketing and sales. Our database focuses on the job titles important to people who sell to fleets:
- Owners and presidents of small businesses
- Fleet directors and fleet managers
- Fleet vehicle maintenance
- Transportation
- Safety and EH&S
- DOT compliance
- Operations
- General managers
- Logistics
- Warehouse
- Driver recruiting
- Risk management
- Asset management
- Field service
- Public works
- City managers
We focus on owners, executives, directors and managers.
As you can imagine, for more general titles such as “operations” and “maintenance” there can be a lot of irrelevant job titles. We have extensive exclude lists tailored to the needs of people who need to reach influencers and decision-makers relevant for fleets.
Can ProsperFleet help us get valid emails?
Yes. Emails are run through a verification service. We recommend that you work with us to re-verify emails immediately before email campaigns. Due to job changes, emails can age quickly and this can increase your bounce rate and affect deliverability of your emails.
A note about personal email domains like gmail, hotmail, yahoo: Sometimes, especially with smaller businesses, these emails are truly being used and not just given out as a way to void spam. Owner-operators and small business may be more likely to use these email services, especially if they don’t have a website.
In addition, if you run advertising on LinkedIn, keep in mind that people often use personal emails for their LinkedIn profiles. Because over time as they change jobs, their employer emails will change. LinkedIn has a matched list feature where you can upload lists of emails. We find the email match rate there is higher when you do not exclude personal emails from lists. So when reaching targeted audiences on LinkedIn, personal emails can be an advantage.
If you want only emails associated with a company website domain, you can specify that when you order data, though please note this will significantly reduce the counts of contact data available.
Are emails opt-in?
People must choose to opt-in to receive emails from your business. So, no emails from lists or data that you purchase are opt-in.
The exception is if people give permission to receive third-party emails. Our emails do not include opt-in for third-party emails.
Our terms of service require that you follow applicable federal and state laws when using data acquired from ProsperFleet.
