Map View - User Settings
You can customize:
- Center of Map
- Radius of Pins Plotted
To change these in your map view, go to map settings. Click on the gear icon in the map’s toolbar:
Customize Center of Map
You can set the default center of the map, where it will always start when you click the Map tab. You can choose:
- Device location
- Center of the U.S.
- Address
Device Location
The map will detect the location of your laptop, desktop, tablet or phone. Your location can change whether you’re at a workplace, home or traveling.
If you choose Device Location and it’s not working, check that your device is allowing https://prosperfleet.valgen.com to use your device location. It’s possible your device is blocking this. In Chrome, you’ll see the location icon in the browser bar with a slash through it. Click the icon. A message will pop up. See if it says “Location access denied.” Click “Always allow https://prosperfleet.valgen.com to access your location. Then click the Done button. The Device Location default setting should work now.
Center of the U.S.
If privacy issues prevent using your device location as the center, you can use Center of the U.S.
The map will always center itself around a location in Kansas. This is the latitudinal and longitudinal center of the continental U.S. Then you can easily zoom in and move the map to anywhere.
Address
You can also use a street address as the center. When you choose Address, a form will open where you enter Street Address, City, State and Zip Code. It will calculate the Latitude and Longitude for you.
Customize Radius
This will decide how far out the data and pins are plotted on the map, from the center you choose. Also as you move around the map, the pins will populate within this radius.
The default radius is 100 miles from the center.
If your business is very local, you can change this to 10 miles.
If you need to see across a region, you can choose 1,000 miles. If you need to see all national data at once, choose 2,000 miles.
Note that choosing 1,000 or 2,000 miles can slow performance because there’s a large amount of data to plot on the map.
